Adobe Labs Posts Camera Raw 8.1 Release Candidate For Photoshop CS6 Tweet This   Forward This

17 May 2013

Adobe has posted a release candidate of Camera Raw 8.1 on Adobe Labs. The new version adds support for HiDPI displays, seven new cameras and 15 new lens profiles.

New cameras include the Hasselblad H5D-60, Olympus PEN E-P5/E-PL6, preliminary support for the Phase One IQ260, Pentax Ricoh GR and Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G6/DMC-LF1.

According to Lightroom Product Manager Sharad Mangalick, "This is the first time that we are providing camera support through a version of the camera Raw plug-in that is a whole version number greater than the version of Camera Raw that shipped with a specific version of Photoshop."

He also notes, "However, when ACR8 is hosted by Photoshop CS6, it will not offer any of the new features described in Photoshop CC marketing materials for ACR8."

The release candidate will expire on July 30.
