In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Amazon Art, rental lens repair data, Lighting 101 and a special offer from Think Tank Photo.

  • Amazon.com has launched Amazon Art, a marketplace of over 40,000 works of fine art from over 150 galleries and dealers and more than 4,500 artists, including photographers.
  • Roger Cicala reports Lensrentals Repair Data: 2012-2013 based on "data on over 12,000 copies resulting in over 2,000 repairs" of its rental lenses. Among his more interesting conclusions, "70-200 f/2.8 lenses are likely to fail no matter who makes them."
  • Strobist David Hobby has revised his signature Lighting 101 after seven years. "Welcome to Lighting 101" it begins. "You may not realize it yet, but you have just stepped through a door that may change your photography forever."
  • Think Tank Photo's August Special Offer is a free Camera Strap V2.0 and Camera Support Strap (worth $44.50) when you buy any backpack.

More to come...
