In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at a hot-shoe cable, the Canon 70D, GraphicConverter and the Eclectic Photography Resource.
- LPA Design has introduced its HSFM3 hot shoe-to-miniphone cable (HSFM3), a three-foot cable with a non-TTL hot shoe on one end and a mono miniphone connector on the other to plug into either a Plus radio, MultiMAX Transceiver or FlexTT5 Transceiver. Not for Sony strobes, though. That's just 10x short of Strobist David Hobby's request.
- Our new affiliate B&H has announced the Canon 70D is now in stock at $1,199 for the body only and $1,549 with the 18-135mm kit lens. Adorama has it with the 18-55mm kit lens for $1,389.
- Lemkesoft has released its $39.95 GraphicConverter 8.8 [M] with display of XMP faces, inclusion of XMP sidecar files for copy/move in browser, a New Image with URL from Clipboard command, TIFF export with ZIP compression, multi-page support for HTML catalog, creation and more.
- James Ollinger's The Eclectic Photography Resource has a wealth of information (and even PDF documentation) for equipment of another age. We found our Durst 606 manual there as well as an Argus C-3 manual.
