In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Access for the iPad, WiFi cards, Image Smith and Image Dream.

  • In A Better Way to Bring Your Desktop to Your iPad David Pogue reviews Access, which turns an iPad into a terminal connected to your computer via a WiFi network (although 3G barely works, too). "It's not just about running desktop software, either. This setup also means you can get access to the far greater storage and horsepower of your computer. And you can work with files you left behind."
  • At DPReview, Mike Perlman compares two WiFi SD cards in Battle of the Wi-Fi Cards: Eye-Fi vs. Transcend. But as Derrick Story points out, the $72 Eye-Fi Mobi might be "the best WiFi card on the market right now."
  • Koingo Software has released its $19.95 Image Smith 2.0 [MW] batch image processor with previews in the main window, mini-previews with file list, zoom for previews, cropping, rotation, scaling for GIFs and animated GIFs, sharpen/blur, support for drag-and-drop to the Dock icon, preservation of metadata and color profiles for TIFF/JPEG/PNG and more.
  • Jalada has released its $59.99 Image Dream [MW] image editor that provides "an unlimited virtual 'playing' field on which to explore your inherent creativity" with expanded Raw support, extended scanner support, usability tweaks, compatibility updates and bug fixes.
