In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at PhotoPresenter, camera backpacks, VueScan and another fairy door.

  • Boinx Software has released its $1.99 PhotoPresenter for iOS for the impromptu show-and-tell sessions. "After hooking up your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (iOS 6.0 or later) to a HDTV set or a projector, you browse your device's photo library to find the media you want to show and click on the image or video to display it on the second screen," the company said. "The audience sees only the image or video selected, keeping your personal media personal."
  • Order one of Think Tank Photo's two long lens camera backpacks -- the $159.75 Glass Taxi or the $205.75 Glass Limo -- and get a free Slim Changer, Lens Changer 25 V2.0, Lens Changer 50 V2.0, Lens Changer 75 Pop Down V2.0 or a Strobe Stuff. The company is also raffling off a new Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina in a My 2nd Brain laptop case with a Powerhouse power brick.
  • Hamrick Software has released VueScan 9.2.25 [LMW] with support for the Canon MG2400/MG2500/MG3500/P200 multifunction devices.
  • Fans of the fair door in Golden Gate Park have another tiny tree door to discover after Tony Powell remodeled a long eucalyptus log near the Japanese Tea Garden.

More to come...
