In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at mirrorless cameras, Margo Seibert, Narrative (formerly Memoto) and new bags from Lowepro and Tenba.

  • "If you dismissed mirrorless cameras two years ago," Thom Hogan writes in The State of Mirrorless Camera Systems, Fall 2013, "you owe it to yourself to take another look." The article includes not only a roundup of current offerings by market group (Low Consumer to Pro) and brand rankings but also an elaborate table of the lens options.
  • Strobist David Hobby shoots actress Margo Seibert with aluminum foil, sunlight and even a strobe as he shows how to "let your vision cross-pollinate between seeing great ambient and creating great light from scratch."
  • Memoto has become Narrative, promising to ship its wearable "life-blogging" camera to its Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers on Nov. 1 after receiving a new round of funding from True Ventures.
  • Lowepro has introduced its new Nova Sport AW Series shoulder bags in three sizes. And Tenba has added two sizes of Messenger DNA bags designed "with the protection of a camera bag and the ability to use it while riding a bicycle."

More to come...
