We're no stranger to the marble staircase at the Mechanics' Institute. "Take the stairs," we mumble under our breath whenever we walk through the lobby, passing the invitingly open door of one of the three small elevators.
As we climb to the second floor or the third, leaving the lobby's natural light for the warmer glow of the wiser heights, we never gasp for breath. We're thinking of other things. Questions whose answers are now within our reach.
But they are answers that, like the staircase, will keep us going in circles, posing even more questions whose answers are just one more step away.
