When the month ends, we sit down with a cup of coffee and compile its archive manually. It's not something we want to automate because it gives us a chance to review our work. Were the news stories worth archiving? Did we get enough reviews done? Were our features insightful? And were those editor's notes both fun and useful?

If September broke records, October broke the bank. We published eight features, 37 commented News items, 15 Editor's Notes (including 40 items in our Around The Horn articles), three Reviews and two Site Notes. That's 65 stories, exceeding our previous high of 48. There was a lot of news this month.

We hit new highs this month in unique sites and visits.

Included in that was our new Matinee series, highlighting films of important figures in the history of photography, our 'Remembering' obituaries of notable photographers, a subscriber benefit software release, camera introductions and a few more whimsical Editor's Notes images.

We like the comparison review format so much that we're using it for a couple more things we're working on.

We also expanded your options to share our stories on both LinkedIn and Google+. And we've done that as well with our major stories. We continue to post every new item to our RSS feed and Twitter feed.

But enough about us. What about you?

Readership continues to grow, we're happy to say (boy, do we wish we'd started this five years ago). If you discount July, which was an unusually active month, our readership numbers just continue to climb at a regular rate.

We hit new highs this month in unique sites and visits. And we easily passed the 600,000 pages served mark.

We've added another affiliate: BorrowLenses. And we did deposit our first affiliate check this month, too. So here's a thank you to those who are using our affiliate links to support this site. We don't know who you are but we're very appreciative.

As always, we invite you to use the Feedback button at the bottom of each story (including this one) to let us know what you think. We're both in this together, after all.
