Tiffen Updates Venerable Domke Bag Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

The Tiffen Co. has updated its instantly-recognizable, canvas Domke camera bag with four new models: the Journalist Series, the Adventurer Series, the Metro Series and Viewfinder Series.

New Domke. With new ways to organize and protect your gear.

The new design introduces Tiffen's PocketFlex storage component system of pockets, patches and pouches. The GearProtex system lets you organize the bags into compartments of any size or shape using bendable, self-adhering separators, the company said.

"We've spent a number of years researching, testing and perfecting this line of camera bags," Tiffen President and CEO Steve Tiffen said, "to ensure it lives up to the Domke name photographers have trusted for nearly 40 years. We're confident Domke Next Generation bags will more than satisfy loyal fans as well as win over many new ones."

Jim Domke came up with the original design on his kitchen table. A Philadelphia Inquirer staffer, he wanted a bag he could work out of fast and on the run.

Our own Domke, which dates to the Carter administration, has always been that. And we find we still turn to it when no other bag is quite as accommodating.

I'll never sell my navy blue Domke F-4AF bag, which after two decades has held up well, is useful and looks attractive. Camera bags come and go, but that old Domke stays.

How true! Somehow we can always fit whatever it is we need in the Domke. Everything else is a little too constrained. So it stays close by.... We're not sure ours is attractive any more but that has its advantages, too. It doesn't seem to attract much attention on public transportation, city streets or urban hikes up the hills.
