Deals: Sony Trade-In Offer For A7/A7R Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

11 March 2014

Our old Argus C-3 is getting very nervous. It's been sitting proudly on the shelf disintegrating peacefully for years as a knickknack, an oddity, a conversation piece. And suddenly this month a number of trade-in offers from various sources are making it a lot more valuable than the $10 we paid for it at the flea market.

Today's enticement is Adorama's $300 instant trade-in credit for "ANY used camera in ANY condition from ANY manufacturer," as they subtly put it, when you purchase a new Sony A7 A7 kit or A7R.

Sony A7. The $1,998 kit is $300 off with trade-in.

You also get a $50 Adorama Gift Card and four percent in Adorama rewards. Don't waste that on a service plan, card or camera bag, though, because the Sony deal includes:

  • A three-year digital camera service plan
  • 32-GB SD card
  • Camera bag

The offer is available until the end of the month, so you have time to read Thom Hogan's Sony A7 and A7r Review. Hogan does not recommend the A7R:

If we're going to push up the sensor specs that far, that needs to be supported by better integrity in Raw files and more attention to keeping the potential quality at the highest level (e.g. avoiding shutter shock).

But he likes the A7, noting "for casual shooting I enjoyed the A7 more than I do my D610 ;~)."
