In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at the Mimi Foundation's special photo shoot, a VSL milestone, WD MyPassport with My Cloud and two free iOS photo apps.
- The Mimi Foundation's If Only For A Second project gave 20 cancer patients a hair and makeup makeover. They promised not to peek until they were saw themselves before a two-way mirror with photographer Vincent Dixon on the other side.
- Kirk Tuck's Celebration Post is number 2,000 on the Visual Science Lab. He cites three messages: take more photos, vision trumps gear and experiment. All of which adds up to having more fun, it strikes us. Congrats, Kirk!
- Jaron Schneider recounts his WD experience Backing Up and Delivering Content with WD MyPassport & My Cloud. "Uploading files to the My Cloud is extremely fast," he writes, "and sending them to clients is a breeze. It's not a whole lot different from having DropBox, but it does have a heck of a lot more storage space for a one-time price."
- Zach Epstein list six iOS apps that are free for a limited time, including Reflect, a photo filter app, and Night Camera, a night photography app.
