LensRentals Introduces Keeper Program Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

2 October 2014

LensRentals has announced a new Keeper program that let's you buy whatever gear you are renting from the company. Here's how it works:

Just rent an eligible item and then we'll give you a starting purchase price based on the age of the copy we send you. We'll even give you a credit for a portion of the rental fees. Even better, you can handle the entire transaction with just a few clicks on our Web site (although we'd be more than happy to handle it over the phone if you are just dying to talk to one of our friendly customer service agents).

According to the post on the company's blog, only difficult-to-replace equipment won't be offered for sale. A badge under the Rent button indicates if the product has been added to the program. But not all eligible products have been badged yet, so "just send us an email" if you're interested, LensRentals advised.

LensRentals will credit 100 percent of a seven-day rental fee toward the purchase price. If the rental period was longer, you get the seven-day credit plus 30 percent of the remaining rental fee.

The company made one other important point in its post:

Lastly, we want to be clear this is a try-and-buy program; it's not a rent-to-own program in the traditional sense. The price, after any credit for rental fees, will never dip much below 50 percent of the retail price of the equipment, so please don't expect to extend a rental over and over again until the item is completely paid-off.
