In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at 8-TB storage solutions from Drobo and WD, Sony dSLR trade-in program, the new Forbes contract and a BorrowLenses Halloween extension.

  • If the $999 8-TB Drobo Mini seems a bit much, Thomas Hawk recommends the $650 8-TB WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo. He prefers it over his own Mini, he says, and notes there are less expensive 4-TB and 6-TB versions available.
  • Sony is offering its Trade-In Program again. Buy a Sony a7 or a7R and give Sony a dSLR camera of any make or model to earn $345 on a Sony a7R, $300 on a Sony a7 kit or $255 on a Sony a7 body.
  • In Pricing And Negotiating: Forbes Magazine Contract, Bill Cramer analyzes the publications's new standard photo contract, pointing out some serious problems.
  • Use the code PUMPKIN14 to extend a BorrowLenses due on Oct. 31 through Nov. 3.

More to come...
