11 May 2015

Canon has issued a product advisory for the Rebel T6 sensor issue first reported by Roger Cicala at Lensrentals.

The issue affects any Rebel T6s or T6i whose first two digits in the serial number are 01 or 02. Repaired models will be indicated with a black dot on the inside of the battery cover.

"Potentially affected cameras will be inspected and affected units will be repaired free of charge," the company promised in the advisory. "We are developing a solution and will inform you as soon as it is available."

Cicala has posted a follow-up to his report in which he suggest "the sensor issue is not going to occur to a normal sensor over time."
