In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Canon 5DS and 5DS R resolution tests, Facebook Moments, a DxO announcement worth putting on your calendar and a used gear sale at BorrowLenses.
- Roger Cicala performed some Canon 5DS and 5DS R Initial Resolution Tests on their 50.2-megapixel sensors. Not simple, he says. And, true to form, he thinks differently of the "50-megapixel capable lenses" argument, trying out a battered old 50mm on them.
- Facebook has released Moments, a standalone mobile app (written in C++ for cross-platform compatibility) for iOs and Android to organize (with face recognition as well as time and location), sync and share your mobile photos.
- Are you ready for the new shape of photography? It's coming from DxO on Thursday.
- BorrowLenses is offering 20 percent off all used gear through June 21 when you use the code USEDGEAR20. Wonder what happens if you use the code USEDGEAR50?
