Apple has released Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 6.05 which supports 10 new cameras. Among those is the Leica M Monochrom (Type 246) whose DNG files could not be parsed by Apple Photos.
Newly-supported cameras include the Canon M3, Fujifilm X-T10/XQ1/XQ2, Leica Monochrom M (Type 246), Nikon 1 J5/D810A, Olympus SH-2/TG-4 and Panasonic G7.
After consulting with Apple, Leica had said an update to Photos itself would be required to resolve the Monochrom issue. Neither company has suggested Update 6.05 addresses the issue. We previously detailed a fix to restore your Photos library corrupted by the problem
The update is available for systems running Yosemite from the App Store update panel.

Doesn't work, it just tells you constantly it wants to update but won't!

Interesting, Mike. We performed the update from the App Store application on two different computers running Yosemite before posting the story. But we're not unfamiliar with App Store updating problems
. One way around it is to download the update directly from the Apple Support site. In this case, go here and click on the Download button. That should get you rolling.
