Infinity On Monday

Our hiking companion pointed out this blanket of clouds to us a few weeks ago. "Take a picture!" So we did. Focusing on infinity, as one does when shooting clouds.
Clouds. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 35mm f2.8 lens at ISO 200, f11.0, 1/500 second.
This would amuse the clouds. "We're only up here to distract you from infinity," they, sodden as usual, might say.
They have a point.
Our lenses may pretend to find infinity, but they never get there either. Nobody ever gets to infinity.
It isn't the farthest wall out there. It isn't a wall at all. It's the absence of a wall. It's forever.
When you look up into the sky, you are looking at forever without seeing it. Unless some clouds gather to take your mind off things that can not be done.
