Moment Workshops has announced it will host its Project New Orleans 2016: Working with Nonprofits workshop on April 6 to 10, 2016 in collaboration with Leica Camera.

Founding Partner and COO Jamie Rose said, "This is the longest running Momenta workshop and it fills up every year with eager students wanting to use their camera as a force of change."

Each student, who may use a Leica M series kit for assignments, is paired with a local, deserving nonprofit to create a photo or video story about their nonprofit throughout the week. The images are shown on Saturday night to the public at a celebration party featuring cocktails, documentary slide shows and music.

Instructors offer nightly presentations on topics of documentary photographic perspective, nonprofit portfolios, the elements of a photo story and narrative storytelling. Students receive hour-long, 1-on-1 personalized editing sessions each day with an instructor.

The workshop concludes with a full day of business skills and marketing lectures which Rose describes as "the most important day of the workshop."

Momenta Brings Nonprofit Photography Workshop to New Orleans Photo Alliance

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Momenta Workshops will host their Project New Orleans 2016: Working with Nonprofits workshop in collaboration with Leica Camera on April 6 to 10, 2016. This workshop is part of a five-day nonprofit photography workshop series held at the New Orleans Photo Alliance nonprofit headquarters and gallery and Momenta's Project Series: Working with Nonprofits lineup for 2016.

"There is no other city in the world like New Orleans and no other nonprofits like those we work with during this workshop," said Founding Partner and COO Jamie Rose. "This is the longest running Momenta workshop and it fills up every year with eager students wanting to use their camera as a force of change."

On all of Momenta's Working with Nonprofits programs, each student is paired with a local, deserving nonprofit. Attendees create a photo or video story that speaks to the mission of their assigned nonprofit throughout the week. The images are shown on Saturday night to the public at a celebration party featuring cocktails, documentary slide shows and music.

During the workshop, Momenta instructors offer nightly presentations on topics of documentary photographic perspective, nonprofit portfolios, the elements of a photo story and narrative storytelling. Each student receives daily, hour-long, 1-on-1 personalized editing sessions with an instructor. Additionally, students have the opportunity to use a Leica M series kit for their nonprofit assignment or daily assignment work.

The workshop concludes with a full day of business skills and marketing lectures which Rose describes as "the most important day of the workshop." The Momenta model strives to teach sustainability for photography business owners as well as creative excellence.
