In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at McNally's light shapers, the new Snap! Pro iPhone case, California wildfires and a used gear deal.

  • In Go-To Light Shapers, Joe McNally lists his go-to travel kit of light shapers. The piece includes photos shot with the various gear so you can appreciate why he won't leave home without them.
  • Rob DePaolo details the updated Snap! Pro iPhone case, which includes a redesigned physical shutter button, tripod mount and interchangeable grips. The case also mounts the company's six converter lenses to the iPhone. The Kickstarter project, which ends in two weeks, nets you a new case for just $39.
  • Alan Taylor presents 30 dramatic images of A Fiery Weekend in California, including a cabin covered in aluminum structure wrap and cars sitting in their own melted metal. The fast-moving flames have destroyed hundreds of homes with over 1,1000 evacuees turning to the Red Cross for shelter.
  • BorrowLenses is offering 15 percent off used gear now through Monday, Sept. 21 when you enter the code BUYUSED15 at checkout.

More to come...
