In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Ctein's review of the Epson P800, McNally's portraits of two news makers, long exposure photography and Filtera.

  • Master printer Ctein reviews the Epson SureColor P800 Printer with praise for the darker blacks in the new ink set and printer-managed color on the Mac (but not Windows). Versuch macht klug, as one comment has it (we say, "Live and learn" in English).
  • In Trump and Biden -- Two Magazines, Two Approaches, Joe McNally unearths images from two assignments from the 1980s. "Two different people, two very different coverages, done in very different ways," he remembers. "The job of a photographer."
  • Luminescence of Nature Press has published Stretching Time, a new photography tutorial by photographer Jason P. Odell on mastering the art of long exposure photography. The $14.99 PDF is 97 pages of full-color images, printable in high resolution.
  • Filterra is a free photo editor app for iOS with "over one million combinations" of filters and effects and in-app purchases provide even more. Don't worry, there's also "adjustment tools, precise manual controls and cool time-savers."

More to come...
