Pixelmater has been updated with "full support for OS X El Capitan, the new Split View feature and a powerful, Metal-based Photos Extension together with a range of other improvements and fixes," according to a blog post today on the Pixelmater site.

With support for El Capitan's Photos Extension, you can use Pixelmater's Distort tools to "reshape areas of your images to retouch photos, create artistic effects or simply have fun with your photos without having to leave the Photos app." The Distort tools take advantage of Metal in El Capitan, which provides direct access to the graphics processing unit to speed up image processing.

The team has posted a special page just on Pixelmater's Photos Extension feature and Distort tools, which include Warp, Bump, Pinch, Twirl Right, Twirl Left and Restore. The tools were built with Swift, Apple's new programming language and support Force Touch on trackpads.
