In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at safe haven in Iraq, XQD memory card speed, a take-down notice for your own images and phlow.
- In Finding a Safe Haven in Iraq, James Estrin reports on the the Iraqi photo agency Metrography's Map of Displacement project that asked five Kurdish Iraqi photographers to produce a story of their choosing. They knew the refugee experience as well as anyone.
- In Nikon D4S: XQD Memory Card Speed Performance Test, a Sony XQD G-series memory card goes up against a Compact Flash to compare high speed shooting, buffer writes and file transfer speeds:
- Ming Thein received a take-down notice from Yahoo for several of his own images, hosted on Flickr. Two updates later, Yahoo hasn't responded but the company alleged to have requested the take-down confirm it wasn't them. "Third party fraud is now suspected," Thein writes.
- The photo sharing app phlow is a photo sharing app that focuses on users' interests rather than friends and family, showing what's relevant and trending.
