In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Smithsonian winners, David Hobby on assignment, Moose Peterson in the air and a LaserSoft Imaging Easter discount.

  • Alan Taylor presents The Winners of the Smithsonian Magazine's 2015 Photo Contest. The nine images include the Grand Prize winner and the winning shots from the competition's six categories: The Natural World, Travel, People, The American Experience, Altered Images and Mobile.
  • Strobist David Hobby goes On Assignment: Leaf and a Dish to shoot opera singer Curtis Bannister outdoors with "a minimal amount of well-chosen gear."
  • Speaking of aerials, Moose Peterson had A Week of Unbelievable flying with the Texas Flying Legends Museum from Texas to California. He used a Nikon D4S and 70-200mm f4 Nikkor with shutter speeds as low as 1/30 second.
  • LaserSoft Imaging is offering an Easter discount of 30 percent through March 28 on SiverFast 8.5, Archive Suite 8.5, PrinTao 8, IT8 targets and USAF targets.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
