In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Brandon Stanton, Hogan plus Tuck, Pink and a deal on Sascha Erni's new Capture One Pro 9 book.

  • In Humans of New York Founder Takes On Donald Trump, Ruth La Ferla reports that photographer Brandon Stanton, who "has worked hard to filter politics and moral judgments out of his posts," posted a 300-word open letter to Donald Trump. "You are a man who has encouraged prejudice and violence in the pursuit of personal power," he wrote. The post was shared 712,000 times in eight hours with 2.2 million likes on Facebook, La Ferla reports.
  • Gearheads will enjoy Thom Hogan's The D5/D500 Blog featuring "bits and pieces of my experience with the [Nikon] D5 and D500 as I discover them" and Kirk Tuck's "quick assessment" of the Sony 18-105mm f4.0 G zoom.
  • Bill Cunningham finds Pink! everywhere this spring, which is a luxury in a city of soot, he points out. And that's not all he noticed. The orchid, once plucked for Easter bonnets, has returned to its natural state.
  • Capture One Pro 9 by Sascha Erni is on sale through March 31 with the ebook going for $15 (regularly $31.99), the print book for $20 ($39.95) or both for $35 ($49.95).

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
