In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at purchasing strategies, the Sony 85mm f1.4 GM, theAnalogstory.com and golf.

  • In Strategies for Buying Digital Cameras, Mike Johnston outlines four approaches to buying gear and who they make sense for.
  • Roger Cicala and Aaron Closz perform a Sony FE 85mm f1.4 GMaster Emergency Tear Down to see if there's any truth to focusing noise issue. It does make noise (less when it slows down for video) but "optically this is a superb lens."
  • Derrick Story at The Digital Story writes, "I believe that the integration of analog and digital photography is the next big step. And I want to do everything that I can to share that journey with you." So he's launched theAnalogstory.com.
  • In The Power of Golf, Joe McNally reflects on the changing nature of the sport and his two takes on the UCLA golf team.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
