In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Vince Carter, Facebook's camera project, Pier 24's new exhibit and the stARTup Art Fair.

  • In Lighting for Kids, Joe McNally reveals how he enticed Memphis Grizzly Vince Carter to pose for SI for Kids.
  • Dee[a Seetharaman reports, "Facebook Inc. is developing a stand-alone camera app to encourage its 1.6 billion users to create, and share, more photos and videos." But Seetharaman also notes his sources added, "The project is in its early stages and may never come to fruition."
  • Pier 24 Photography in San Francisco will open Collected, its eighth exhibition. The show includes work from the host Pilara Foundation and other Bay Area collections spanning the last 100 years of the medium. From May 2 to Feb. 28, 2017..
  • The stARTup Art Fair opens April 28 at noon and runs through May 1 at 7 p.m. at the HOtel Del Sol on 3100 Webster St., San Francisco. Photographers exhibiting include Victoria Heilweil, Peter Tonningsen and Lisa Levine of Counterpoint Studios, Charlie Milgrim, Johanna Evans-Colley and Audrey Heller.

We've also updated our Calendar today and there's always more to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
