In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at SFMOMA reopening tomorrow, the Canon 1DX Mark II, another Lightroom Coffee Break video and William Zaluski on Mapplethorpe.

  • SFMOMA reopens tomorrow with a treasure trove of photographs. SFGate lists the new exhibits and takes a look at the museum's reinvented audio tour available on site or via your iPhone. While you're waiting, here's a time-lapse of the new wing, which houses the photography exhibits, going up from Earthcam:
  • In Shooting the Nashville Predators with the New Canon 1DX Mark II, Zach Sutton captures Predator team photographer John Russell and Tennesse Titan photographer Donn Jones as they try out the new Canon 1DX Mark II during Game 4 of the series with the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks left no doubt last night in winning Game 7 and these guys make a few salient points of their own about the new Canon.
  • In his latest Lightroom Coffee Break video, Adobe's Benjamin Warde explains how to use the finer scrubber controls for sliders in Lightroom:
  • Getty educator William Zaluski discusses "a couple of the questions that visitors have raised on my tours, which give a small sense of the myriad tastes, sensitivities and interests that visitors bring to Mapplethorpe's work and that offer me endless possibilities to engage them in conversations about interpretation."

We've also updated our Calendar today and there's always more to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
