Maine photographer Nate Levesque has won the Eighth Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival poster contest with his image Milky Way Over Schoodic, according to contest organizers. The winning image will be featured on the 2016 Acadia Night Sky Festival poster.

"I am proud that my photograph has been chosen to represent this terrific event," said Levesque.

"As someone who frequents Downeast Maine and spends a great deal of time in Acadia National Park, it is an honor to help showcase the beauty of our night sky for all to see."

The winning image showcases the rugged coast of Acadia National Park with a dramatic view of the Milky Way trailing through the composition.

A Maine resident all his life, Levesque is based in Hampden, Maine. He said he finds inspiration in the beautiful landscapes and seascapes of his home state.

"Not only have I felt a strong connection with photography," he adds, "but it has also changed the way I see the world around me."
