In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at a classic portrait lens, hidden Olympus OM-D features, a photobook sale and Nikon's battery replacement offer.

  • Kirk Tuck reveals his favorite portrait lens to use with the Sony A7R II is a Nikon 105mm f2.0, which you can pick up used for $150.
  • In Master your DSLR: How to find and use hidden Olympus features, Liam Clifford cover three OM-D features hidden in the menu system: Keystone Compensation, High Resolution Composite Mode and Silent Shooting Mode.
  • The Four-Photobook Book Offer at The Online Photographer bundles four titles by curator and author Keith F. Davis on Clarence John Laughlin, Todd Webb, George N. Barnard and Dorothea Lange for $48 plus shipping.
  • Nikon will replace older EN-EL15 batteries (Li-ion01 on the battery's white label), which exhibit short battery life, with a modified version (Li-ion20 on the label) for owners of the D500. The camera ships with the modified battery.

We've also updated our Calendar today and there's always more to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
