In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at motels, LR/Instagram plug-in, the Photoshop New Features Guide and Nick Ut.

  • Now that everybody is resigned to returning to school, Mark Havens' nostalgic look at the Mesmerizing Motels of the Atomic Age may be just the ticket. There's something about those "kidney-shaped pools, the looping neon signs and the barrage of faded colors."
  • Terry White reviews LR/Instagram, a shareware plug-in for Lightroom to publish directly to Instagram:
  • James Wamser publishes the Photoshop New Features Guide describing each feature added or removed from the image editing software since the Oct. 2003 release of Photoshop CS. It was updated last week to include Photoshop CC 2015.5.
  • Nick Ut, who took the Pulitzer Prize-winning image of the "napalm girl," is retiring next March from the Associated Press after 51 years in harness. Anh Do profiles Ut for the Los Angeles Times.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
