Iridient Developer 3.1.1 Released Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

13 October 2016

Brian Griffith has released Iridient Developer 3.1.1 with support for many new Raw formats including the Canon 5D IV (plus special Dual Pixel mode processing), Fujifilm X-T2 and Apple iOS 10 Raw support. The new release also includes important bug fixes and other improvements.

RAW SUPPORT

Raw support has been added for the Canon 5D Mark IV (including special dual pixel CR2 support), Fujifilm X-T2, Nikon D3400, Sony RX100 V, Olympus E-PL8, Pentax K-70, Panasonic G8/G80/G81/G85/LX9, Phase One IQ1 100MP/XF 100MP backs, Apple iPhone 6s/6s Plus/7/7 Plus/SE, Apple iPad Pro 9.7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, HTC 10, LG G5 and Huawei P9.

When we asked Griffith about adding Raw support for iOS 10, he replied, "The iOS Raw support was very easy since Apple chose to use DNG file format. The DNG format isn't perfect, but it definitely makes it much much easier to support new camera models when they rely on a well-documented public format than using some new undocumented proprietary RAW file format."

IMPROVEMENTS

The update also resolves several issues:

  • An issue with the new v4 demosaic processes that could result in hot or bright green pixels in dark regions particularly with certain cameras (notably recent Nikon and Pentax models).
  • Fixed a bug affecting some Nikon cameras where the lens ID number would not be properly loaded identifying the detailed lens name information in the lens database.
  • The Nikon lens name database has been updated for all recent models which should result in more detailed lens name metadata for most every Nikkor lens.

Also greatly improved with this update is automatic hot pixel removal for Fujifilm X-Trans. "X-Trans cameras in some shooting situations seem prone to producing hot pixel clusters or groups that would evade the previous automatic hot pixel filter. The new improvements should make the X-Trans hot pixel filter much more robust," Griffith said.
