Kevin Raber of the Luminous Landscape is reporting that Chinese drone maker DJI, a minority stockholder, has acquired Hasselblad. The revered camera-maker had previously entered into agreements with DJI for develop joint aerial products.
No formal announcement has been made by either DJI or Hasselblad. Raber, however, cited "numerous, reliable sources" in reporting the news. He wrote:
Hasselblad, the iconic Swedish camera company, is now owned by the Chinese drone maker DJI. Sooner or later, this will all become public. Maybe now that I am spilling the beans, it will be sooner rather than later. It seems that everyone inside Hasselblad knows about this, as well as some distributors and resellers. You can't keep something this big a secret for very long, eventually, it is going to get out.
Raber's full report, Hasselblad Acquired by DJI, can be read in full at no charge on the Luminous Landscape site.
