In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at the 2017 Audubon photography awards, a Ming Thein video, social media and smart filters.
- Alan Taylor presents 21 photos by winners of the 2017 Audubon Photography Awards from the over 5,500 images depicting birdlife from 49 states and eight Canadian provinces that were entered.
- Ming Thein is on assignment in Above and Beyond -- a Collaboration With Koenigsegg. The concept "is pretty simple -- but as far as I can tell, unique to date -- long exposures, cars, aerial perspective, twilight, Swedish locations for a Swedish car and camera, high speed sync flash to freeze."
- In How to Get Work by Presenting Your Images the Right Way on Social Media, Scott Kelby shares Paris photographer Serge Ramelli's advice on a recent The Grid show. Well, he shares the whole show but you can skip to the halfway point for the advice "that was absolutely just blowing people away," Kelby says.
- Julieanne Kost offers Five Reasons to Use Smart Filters in Photoshop -- and they're all good reasons.
