Tamron has announced development of a new ultra-telephoto 100-400mm f4.5-6.3 zoom lens for full-frame dSLRs. The new design features three low disperson lens elements to reduce aberration plus the company's eBAND lens coating.

The 39.3 oz. lens uses magnesium in key areas of the lens barrel to improve weight reduction, strength and portability.

Its high-speed Dual Micro-Processing Unit control system enables fast and precise autofocus and reliable vibration compensation, the company added.

The new lens is compatible with Tamron's 1.4x teleconverter and the Tamron TAP-in Console that enables lens customizations for focus adjustments, VC mechanism adjustments and more. Additionally, an Arca Swiss compatible tripod mount is available as an optional accessory.
