With the release of macOS High Sierra yesterday and last week's release of iOS 11, Apple has detailed its Raw support for the new environments in Digital Camera Raw Formats Supported by iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra. "Support for additional Raw formats is included with iOS and macOS software updates," the company notes, without pointing them out.
The company also said Raw files are supported on macOS with Photos, Preview and certain third-party apps, plus iOS using third-party apps that support Raw.
We were surprised to learn that "Raw processing on iOS with third-party apps is available on iPhone 6 or later, iPad Pro (9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, 12.9-inch), iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, and iPod touch (6th generation)." We had thought support for Raw processing started with the iPhone 6S, not the iPhone 6.
For more information, including a list of all supported Raw formats, see the support document on Apple's site.
