In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at some monochrome images, a guide to landscape photography, Lensbaby's new macro filters and Harold Davis.

  • In Baker's Dozen: Black-And-White, Mike Johnston discusses a handful (or more) of monochrome images submitted by The Online Photographer readers. It's also a nice introduction to the work of some accomplished people you might never otherwise see.
  • Ron Leach found a free Color Guide to Landscape Photography from Photzy. The 17-page PDF explores a number of issues including exposure bracketing, image sharpness, focus stacking and using an intervalometer.
  • Lensbaby has introduced its $49.95 46mm Macro Filter Kit, providing +1, +2 and +4 magnification for the Sweet 35, Sweet 50, Sweet 80, Edge 50, Edge 80, Twist 60 and Creative Bokeh Optics.
  • In A Sunset and Two Camellias, Harold Davis displays his first (intriguing) images of 2018 before reflecting on the hate emails he received after his New Year's Greeting in which he wrote "a kindly civilization that values people and their differences is ultimately better for everyone."

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
