PixelGenius Releases PhotoKit Bundle In Tribute Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

26 January 2018

PixelGenius has announced the release of its PhotoKit bundle of PhotoKit 2.0, PhotoKit Sharpener 2.0 and PhotoKit Color 2.0 Photoshop plug-ins as freeware. The company is closing its commercial operations and "wanted to make sure those people who have purchased our products will be able to continue using their plug-ins for the foreseeable future when our product activation is turned off."

There's a second reason, too.

"Part of our motivation to provide our products as freeware is as a memorial to two of our members no longer with us: Bruce Fraser and Mike Skurski," the announcement said.

Other members of PixelGenius include Martin Evening, Mac Holbert, Seth Resnick, Andrew Rodney and Jeff Schewe.

For more information see the text of the announcement, which includes links to the freeware releases, below.

PixelGenius Announcement Regarding PhotoKit Products

PixelGenius, LLC, creators of the PhotoKit line of Photoshop plug-ins, is closing down our commercial operations and is ceasing any further development of our current products. The nature of the industry and marketplace has evolved as digital photography with Raw processing applications has diminished the need for pixel based editors such as Photoshop.

Since PG will no longer be selling our products, PG wanted to make sure those people who have purchased our products will be able to continue using their plug-ins for the foreseeable future when our product activation is turned off. Therefore, we have decided to release all three of our products; PhotoKit, PhotoKit Sharpener and PhotoKit Color as freeware products without serial numbers nor activation. The downloads we are making available here will not require serial numbers, activation nor registration. Non-customers are free to download and use the products as well. The downloads for Mac and Windows include all three products bundled together. You will need to unzip the files after downloading. Once unzipped, open the folder and please read the READ ME file included in the folder for instructions on how to install the software.

While we are releasing our products for use with a Freeware License (click HERE to read), we still retain all rights and ownership in the intellectual property related to our products and trademarks. The Freeware License is included in the READ ME file in the unzipped folder. The license outlines how to use the products. The freeware licensed PhotoKit products are offered "AS IS" and PG makes no warranty as to their use or performance and offers no technical support. The products should work with versions of Photoshop going back to Photoshop CS2 and up to Photoshop CC 2018 on Mac and Windows. For Windows, you only need to download the specific 32 or 64 bit version of the plug-ins for your operating system requirements.

We wish to thank all the thousands of customers who have purchased and used our products over the years.

It has been our great honor and pleasure to have been of service to the industry.

If you wish to contact the company (but not for tech support) please email PG Info
