Flying Meat has updated Acorn, Gus Mueller's image editing software for macOS X to version 6.1 The new version features Metal 2 support on macOS High Sierra 10.13 and later for faster panning, brushing, fills, and just a general speed improvement.

Additional improvements include bug fixes and the following:

  • Color icons are back and turned on by default.
  • Support for HEIC/HEIF encoding for 10.13.4 or later (Save As..., Export... and Web Export).
  • Support for opening EPS files.
  • When taking screenshots the Touch Bar is now included on a MacBook Pro.
  • Support for 30-bit image display for the new iMac Pro.

The Replace Color filter has a new option to ignore alpha when comparing colors. The $29.99 image editor is available as a 14-day free trial and may be purchased directly from Flying Meat.
