In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Andrew Renneisen, focus stacking, service follies, lens filters and Photoshop filters.
- Escaping Death in DR Congo interviews Andrew Renneisen about his work for The Washington Post on the plight of Congolese refugees fleeing for their lives from Ituri to Uganda.
- Lloyd Chambers discusses Automated Focus Stacking with a reader, rounding up the manual options and praising the Nikon D850's automated approach.
- Meanwhile, in More Reader Questions Answered, Thom Hogan tackles a series of bizarre manufacturer service issues.
- In Physical Filters to the Rescue, Derrick Story found a polarizer and rotating graduated filter handy, particularly with higher ISO sensitivity. The combination saved him time both in the field and in post.
- Jim Kasson, on the other hand, wonders about Eight-Bit Filters in Photoshop CC being run on 16-bit channels. "I wonder when Adobe is going to make all the filters 16-bit?" he asks.
