In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Vivian Maier in color, John Trifonopoulos, digitizing the New York Times photo morgue, moving off Flickr and GIMP 2.10.8.
- Andrea Scott shows us What Vivian Maier Saw in Color. The images are culled from the just released Vivian Maier: The Color Work.
- In John Trifonopoulos Shows What Is Before Your Very Eyes, Stephanie Wade present a few images from the Greek photographer's series Before Your Very Eyes. Made us smile.
- The New York Times is teaming with Google to digitize its photo morgue, which contains over a century's worth of photographs. And Google is using artificial intelligence to do the job. Here's a look at the project:
- David Murphy explains How to Move Your Photos From Flickr to Another Service. He recommends one of two methods to get them from Flickr directly instead of using third-party tools. And he suggests places to put back online. The free, unlimited storage option of Google Photos, for example.
- The free image editing software GIMP 2.10.8 has been released wiht "dozens of bug fixes and optimizations." New macOS contributor Alex Samorukov has been "very hard at work improving the macOS/OSX package" as well.
