In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Holocaust, lockdown drills, maternity photography, Muay Thai, the Kamlan 50mm f1.1 and social media.
- Maurice Berger continues his Race Stories series in The Holocaust's Paradox of Good and Evil, in Photographs featuring Judy Glickman Lauder's images. Beyond the Shadows: The Holocaust and the Danish Exception tells the story of "the human capacity for virulent bigotry and the courage necessary to transcend it" in 160 pages.
- In Here's What Lockdown Drills Are Like for School Children, Amanda Field "photographed and interviewed more than a dozen elementary school children, ranging from grades K-5, about what it's like for them to prepare for a potential shooting."
- Jasenka Grujin provides a few Maternity Photography Tips. She not only suggests what to do but also what not to do with an emphasis on being considerate. Some inspiring illustrations, too.
- Robin Wong is Shooting Muay Thai with the OM-D E-M1 Mark II and two Olympus Pro zooms. Autofocus made all the difference, he writes.
- Kirk Tuck is enjoying The Fuji E-X3 and the Woefully 'Unappreciated' Kamlan 50mm f1.1. This is one of a series of posts on the subject, but a good place to start. You can find the Chinese-made Kamlan online for $150.
- In Social Media Is Ruining Photography, Photoshelter co-founder Allen Murabayash writes, "The community you deserve is the one you help build."
