In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at a magician, Jon Henry, the Medium Festival of Photography and resetting dialog boxes.

  • In A Blind 78-Year-Old Magician Finds a New Stage: New York's Subways, David Gonzalez interviews Jaime Permuth about his images of Olmedini El Mago (Olmedo Renteria). After a stroke that caused him to lose his sight, Renteria gave up the bright lights for free performances on the subway. "When I look at him, I think of Don Quixote," Permuth says. "Even though he is 78 years old, he still believes he can make it in New York City. He gets up each morning and fights his windmill.'
  • In Jon Henry Reimagines the Pietá, Dzana Tsomondo talks to the photographer about his series Stranger Fruit, which depicts African American mothers cradling their sons.
  • Jonathan Blaustein presents the first part of The Best Work I Saw at the Medium Festival of Photography.
  • You know this one already, don't you? Just in case, Julieanne Kost reveals the trick to Resetting Dialog Boxes in Photoshop CC. Hold down the Option or Alt key and watch the Cancel button turn into Reset. But maybe you didn't know that Done buttons turn into Remember buttons to save the current settings as defaults.

We've also updated our Calendar today, adding the 2019 archive, and there's always more to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
