In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Savannah to Miami, switching brands, empty folders, tripod maintenance, a Durst LED conversion and Nicole Frugé's upcoming AMA.
- In Photo Portfolio: Savannah to Miami by Train, photographer Mark Hartman takes in the sights of the South on Amtrak's Silver Star. (It isn't entirely obvious that the second image is the slide show.)
- In If I Were to Switch.., Thom Hogan presents a six-step process to "show you how to correctly evaluate whether it's worth it to switch to another system or not."
- In Making Lightroom Classic Aware of Empty Folders in the Operating System, Julieanne Kost celebrates a nice site redesign with a simple tip.
- Dahlia Ambrose explains How to Clean Your Tripod and Protect It From Salt Water. "Dirt, sand and seawater can be the worst enemies when it comes to a tripod and these can make it very difficult for the tripod to function properly," she warns.
- Durst Laborator 1200 LED Conversion details replacing the color head with an LED light source that can handle 4x5s in either orientation.
- Nicole Frugé, director of photography at the San Francisco Chronicle, will participate in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session this Wednesday, March 13 at 11:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Frugé was recently named Jim Gordon Editor of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association.
