In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Alison Pollack, color grading, iPhone landscape photography, lab testing and 2019 Infinity Awards.
- In San Anselmo Photographer Focuses on Nature's Overlooked Treasures, Colleen Bidwill interviews Alison Pollack about her mushroom and slime mold photographs. Pollack publishes them on her Instagram page @marin_mushrooms.
- In When Creatives Take a Roadtrip to a Desert Ghost Town, Retouchist Pratik Naik talks color grading with side-by-side examples from a shoot at WPPI.
- Karyn Teno has six tips for Moody Landscape Photography on iPhone and a generous selection of moody images to enjoy, too.
- Jim Kasson considers Lap Times as Lab Testing. "The parallels between lap time testing and camera laboratory testing are weak," he writes. He may have been indulging his strange predilection for tasting developer, however. "Dektol tastes vaguely like peanut butter and Microdol like, well, I don't know exactly, but not at all like Dektol."
- The International Center of Photography will hold its 2019 Infinity Awards on April 2 in New York City. Rosalind Fox Solomon will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement award.
