In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Murray Orr, Myla Goldberg, Robin Wong, CJ Clarke, Emily Chang and Copyright Office passwords.

  • In The Wilds of Scotland, Rosie Flanagan presents a set of charming images by Edinburgh photographer Murray Orr. "With Orr, we roam the rolling plains of Scotland; from the beachside settlement of Achmelvich in the Highlands, to waterfalls in the Arrochar Alps and to the windswept coastline where Rhue Lighthouse helps ships hold their course," she writes.
  • Myla Goldberg reflects On Being Photographed by Richard Avedon almost 20 years ago. She'd never heard of him when he called to ask if he could take a portrait of the new novelist whose book he had admired.
  • Robin Wong discusses Framing, Color and Simplicity with a selection of his favorites, all shot with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and M.Zuiko 45mm f1.2 Pro lens.
  • Diane Smyth gives us a glimpse of CJ Clarke's Magic Party Place. "There are portraits of individuals, taken as they light up a cigarette or hang out at home, and there are shots of raucous nights out, taken on a disposable camera to help him blend in," she writes of his new book.
  • Bloomberg's Emily Chang explains What Women Know About the Internet. It isn't pretty. "It isn't just that real-life harassment also shows up online, it's that the Internet isn't designed for women, even when the majority of users of some popular applications and platforms are women," she writes.
  • Carolyn Wright advises Electronic Copyright Office System Users Must Update Their Passwords Every 60 Days. The new policy starts on Sunday.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
