Sigma Advisory: 60-600mm f4.5-6.3 Sports, 70-200mm f2.8 Sports Share This on LinkedIn   Tweet This   Forward This

Sigma has issued a product advisory for its Sigma 60-600mm f4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports and the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lenses. The company is offering a firmware update to resolve a freeze after pressing the shutter button.

With the Sigma 60-600mm f4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports and the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports, we have found a phenomenon whereby when pressing the shutter button on the camera body, it may occasionally stop operating and not respond to the reoperation.

In this circumstance, we would like to provide a lens firmware update free of charge to the customers using the applicable products with the serial numbers mentioned below.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

The issue affects the 60-600mm in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts with serial numbers 53824160 or earlier and the 70-200mm in the same mounts with serial numbers 53846990 or earlier.

The Sigma USB Dock can't perform the firmware updates because each lens must be optimized individually, Sigma said. The company did not, however, provide any contact information for the free firmware update other than to contact your "nearest authorized Sigma subsidiary/distributor."

New lenses with the firmware update will be marked by a black circle above the barcode on the box.
