In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Lucia Fainzilber, Morocco's Chefchaouen village, Helen Levitt, Gabrielle Voinot, historical Hasselblads, the Fujifilm X-Pro, photography competition tips and a Black and White cookie.
- A Feast for the Photographer's Eye presents images from The Cookbook, which is New York photographer Lucia Fainzilber's latest project. "One of the things I love about living here is the variety of ingredients and ethnic food you can find," she says.
- In Morocco's Chefchaouen Village, Andrew Lasane presents 10 images by Tania De Pascalis and Tiago Marques from six days spent among the blue-tinted architecture of the 550-year-old village in the Moroccan mountains.
- In New York With Ladies and Luggage, Geoff Dyer finds "something timely and eternal" about a color image by Helen Levitt.
- Seeing France's Wild Mountains Through a Clouded, Classic Windshield features enchanting countryside images by Gabrielle Voinot that include a mythical Deux Chevaux. David McAninch's story of his trip over southern France's Cévennes mountains is pretty charming, too.
- In The Camera That Went to the Moon and Changed How We See It, Scott Neuman tells the story of the re-engineered Hasselblads that went to the moon.
- Back on earth, Kirk Tuck takes a few black-and-white manually-focused shots with a Fujifilm X-Pro2 set on the Acros film simulation mode when It's Ben's Turn to Cook
- How to Get the Most Out of Photography Competitions is a free guide by the British Journal of Photography. Registration required.
- In Black and White Cookies: What's in a Name?, Harold Davis presents "an iPhone grab shot converted to black and white in Snapseed."
