In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Grayson Morrow, Barry Lewis, E-M1 Mark II's autofocus, mirrorless notes, Photoshop in 2000, focus bracketing and smartphone product photos.
- Grayson Morrow shoots monochrome Day in the Life Sessions of American families that "show the world as the children and parents experience it in each moment -- as though the photographer is not even there."
- In Scenes From a Pivotal Era in the Gentrification of Miami Beach, Miss Rosen presents images by British photographer and filmmaker Barry Lewis now collected in his new book Miami Beach 1988-1995.
- Robin Wong has been Testing the E-M1 Mark II's AF With Updated FW v3.0 at a music concert. "I was quite impressed with the AF enhancements; despite the lighting being dimmer this time and me using a f2.8 lens instead of f1.8, I managed to get away with a much higher hit rate than in 2017," he writes.
- Thom Hogan has a few Mirrorless Notes before he unplugs from the Internet for August.
- Derrick Story reprises A Historical Document on the History of Photoshop from 2000. It's a free download of his piece celebrating the 10th anniversary of the application. "I coordinated with Glenn Knoll to get the facts right, and Jeff Schewe contributed portraits of the Knoll brothers," he remembers.
- In Dear Canon: Can We Please Get This Feature Added to the Eos R?, Scott Kelby begs for the focus bracketing Canon includes on the entry-level RP but not the R.
- Jackie Dove provides some advice on How to Take Great Product Photos With Your Smartphone.
