In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at cholitas, Rian Dundon, bullfighting, conflict photographers, portrait lens selection and sharing iPhone photos.

  • Miss Rosen highlights The Women Reclaiming Cholita Identity in Bolivia captured by Todd Antony. "The word 'cholita' has previously been used as a pejorative term for the indigenous Aymara women of Bolivia," Antony said. "But these woman are reclaiming it as a badge of honor."
  • Blood on the Sidewalk by Rian Dundon, formerly of Timeline, documents "the escalating protests by Trump supporters and right-wing extremists like the Proud Boys in addition to their antifa counterparts on the left." Dundon has spent the last two years on the project.
  • Julia Zabrodzka spent time in a bullfighting school to learn about the traditions and culture behind the controversial contest. The result is her photo project on Spain's Young Bullfighters. "I asked the boys what their favorite films were and they said they liked watching old bullfighting movies from the 1950s and '60s," she writes.
  • Five Conflict Photographers on Some of the Hardest Images They've Taken excerpts selections from Lauren Walsh's Conversations on Conflict Photography . Featured in this piece are Shahidul Alam, Susan Meiselas, Ron Haviv, Eman Helal and Alexander Joe.
  • Jim Kasson considers Portrait Lens Selection a function of matching viewing distance to capture distance. Interesting discussion in the comments, too.
  • Jennifer Stewart presents The Complete Guide to Sharing iPhone Photos With iCloud. She shows you how to use iCloud Photo Sharing on your iPhone, iPad or computer (Mac or Windows).

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
