We took a little walk in Crissy Field in the Presidio the other day. We were going in the direction of the Golden Gate Bridge, which always commands our attention. But at one point, we turned around. And this is what we saw.

Low Tide. Captured with a Nikon D300 and 18-200mm Nikkor at 36mm and f8, 1/500 second and ISO 400. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

The tide was out but the inlet to Crissy Lagoon still wound its way to the bay with Alcatraz looming in the distance. We liked the scene so we composed this shot with our lens stopped down to f8 and the zoom racked out to 36mm.

For some reason we only suspect, we take particular comfort in it this week. The tide is bound to come in, after all, and things will look different when it does.
